Inauguration of the Swiss Vaccine Research Institute
The Swiss Vaccine Research Institute was inaugurated on December 5th, 2007 in Lausanne. The ceremony was opened by an introduction from the Swiss Secretary of State for Research and Education, Mr. Charles Kleiber.
Dr. Marie-Paul Kieny, Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) for Vaccine Research, as well as Dr. Jose Esparza, Senior Advisor of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Dr. Larry Corey, Chairman of the HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN), and Dr. Alan Bernstein, Director of the HIV Vaccine Enterprise, then presented different viewpoints of vaccine research in the world. And Finally, Dr. Giuseppe Pantaleo, Executive Director of the Swiss Research Vaccine, closed the ceremony introducing the Institute’s organization and scientific agenda.
